Boy was it a memorable one! The fun began the Tuesday before Christmas, Michael woke up with what he called a stomach bug, but I refer to as Bambi's Revenge for eating deer sausage :) That same morning when I got Will out of his crib, he felt a little warm. I dismissed it as he was probably sleeping on that cheek & that is why it felt warm. Well when he didn't eat up all his breakfast like he normally does I decided to take his temp - 101 degrees. Oh my! So I give him some Tylenol & call the pediatrician, remember Christmas is coming. Well the fever goes up throughout the day & Will is getting fussier & fussier & my husband is in bed sick.
During times like these, it's really nice to have a brother who is a doctor. He talked to me much longer & more often than the pediatrician would! We make it through Tuesday, I'm hoping Will will get a good nights sleep & wake up back to himself. We made it until 11:00 PM. I took his temp again when he woke up crying - 104.6 - WHAT!! I panic, everyone in the house is up and we're off to the Emergency Room. The St. Luke's ER on Kuykendahl is great! After I got a brief talking to by the ER doctor, something about how I needed to calm down & that my son is going to be fine. We were sent home with a baby with a minor ear infection, bronchiolitis and only 100.4 temp. Motrin works wonders. Christmas morning I got the best gift, the fever was finally gone. My poor sick baby:
As if Will's first sickness wasn't excitement enough there was yet another incident, a dog bite. That's right. Will likes to hold food over the edge of his highchair. Well Pede couldn't handle it anymore & reached up to snatch it out of Will's hand. I must say that I do not allow him to hold food over the edge, I'm always pulling his hands back on the tray. Anyone who has children knows these things happen in a split second. It was awful. I thought we were about to go back to the ER if the bleeding didn't stop. Needless to say, Pede spent quite a bit of time outside that day :)
And finally some Christmas fun! Santa came!
This is what Will prefers to do with his Christmas gifts :)
